The College of Medicine at the University of Karbala organized a scientific awareness symposium on the phenomenon of harassment with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of combating this phenomenon.
The symposium, in which Professor Dr. Ali Tariq, Professor Dr. Ali Abdel Reda, Assistant Professor Dr. Mai Muhammad Ali and Karar Hussein lectured, and Dr. Muhammad Reda, a psychiatrist, also participated in it, aimed at raising awareness of the importance of combating the phenomenon of harassment.
The symposium topics addressed the concept of the phenomenon of harassment, its types and causes, and an explanation of ways to address this phenomenon, in addition to clarifying the legal texts that guarantee the victim’s rights and deter the harasser.
At the end of the symposium, the participants presented a number of recommendations to reduce this phenomenon, including protecting individuals, especially children, spiritually and internally against deviance, preparing awareness and educational programs targeting various segments, and organizing seminars and workshops to educate the public about how to confront the phenomenon of harassment.
