Assistant Professor Dr. Muhanned S .AbdulSattar, Dean of the College of Dentistry at the University of Karbala, participated in discussing the doctoral thesis of the student Raed Razzaq Al-Khafaji, one of the teachers of the College of Dentistry, University of Karbala, on the specialization of oral and maxillofacial diseases, and in the Rehab College of Dentistry, University of Baghdad, entitled The National Study of Salivary Glands Diseases in Iraq .
The aim of the thesis was to find out the relative frequency of diagnostic categories of salivary gland tumors according to gender and age group. To determine the sub-sites of salivary gland tumors (the site of the tumor) and to study the histopathological types of salivary gland tumors.
The thesis confirmed that the most groups of tumors and the wide variety of biological behavior of various pathological tissue lesions lead to the difficulty of diagnosis by the dentist. The study concluded that the histopathology of salivary gland tumors is complex and diverse, where the histological diagnosis is vital because salivary gland tumors have a diverse impact on the rules of clinical prediction. The discussion committee praised the efforts made by the student.
