A doctoral thesis at the College of Science at the University of Karbala discussed the liquid extraction of some ionic elements using some azo reagents – sequential separation – preparation of complexes of ionic elements – study of their thermodynamic functions and analytical applications.
The study presented by researcher Souad Turki Abdel Abbas aimed to synthesize new azo compounds and diagnose them using high-resolution spectroscopic techniques.
The study concluded that new azo compounds were prepared and characterized by modern and accurate pickling methods. The prepared compounds also demonstrated their high ability to extract lanthanide elements, which are considered among the elements of the periodic table that are difficult to separate due to their similar physical and chemical behavior.
The study recommended taking advantage of new azo compounds to isolate and extract many elements of the periodic table. It can also be used to find new spectroscopic methods for estimating rare earth elements.
