The College of Science at the University of Karbala organized a scientific symposium on the possibility of seeing the crescent of the holy month of Ramadan for the year 1445 AH.
The symposium aimed to clarify some of the physical properties of the moon, its movement, the shape of its orbit around the Earth, and the difference between the sidereal and the sidereal month.
The symposium included clarifying the coordinates of the crescent on the day of birth and the day of observation to determine the extent of visibility from the horizon of the holy city of Karbala, in addition to clarifying the possibility of visibility for the rest of the countries on the world map.
The symposium concluded that Tuesday 3/12/2024 is expected to be the first day of the holy month of Ramadan this year.
