A master’s thesis at the College of Management and Economics at the University of Karbala discussed the analysis of the relationship between oil price fluctuations and human development indicators in Algeria and Saudi Arabia, with special reference to Iraq.
The study presented by student Adhari Abboud Saleh aimed to explain the relationship between fluctuations in global oil prices and human development indicators in the sample countries for the period (2000-2020) and to study some human development indicators in the sample countries and the extent to which they are affected by oil prices.
The study concluded that oil economies, especially in the sample countries, face economic challenges resulting from fluctuations in crude oil prices and the decline of oil revenues. With the deterioration of prices and the failure to find alternative sources of oil revenues, this creates a state of imbalance in general economic policy, which in turn is reflected in the planning of economic development statements.
The study recommended achieving stability at the political and security levels, reducing administrative and financial corruption, and advancing the educational, health, and livelihood sectors.
