The University of Karbala organized a campaign to plant different types of trees in the various corridors and spaces of the university, in conjunction with the “National Planting Day” launched by Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani.

The afforestation process was supervised by a committee from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, while the University President, Professor Dr. Bassem Khalil Nayel Al-Saidi, his Assistant for Administrative Affairs, Professor Dr. Akram Mohsen Al-Yasiri, and a group of university professors and employees participated in the campaign.

Before starting the afforestation process, the university president accompanied the members of the ministerial committee on a tour within the university’s corridors to inform them of the university’s latest work in the field of improving the environmental level, expanding green spaces, and regulating water use.

The high salinity of the university’s soil represents one of the most important problems facing agriculture at the university. Despite this, the university presidency was able to increase the green spaces in its various corridors.
