The College of Dentistry at the University of Karbala organized a course entitled (Sustainable Development… Obstacles and Solutions) in the College’s Continuing Education Hall. Lecturer Dr. Ayat Abdel-Sada, Assistant Lecturer Zahraa Abdel Ali, Assistant Lecturer Sarah Hussein Ali, and Assistant Lecturer Hibat Allah Muhammad lectured in the presence of a group of College members.
The course aims to introduce attendees to the concept and importance of sustainable development, while clarifying applicable examples and models, in addition to how to apply sustainable development goals towards establishing a global human community in solidarity to confront all global economic, climate and other challenges.
The course included introducing attendees to the goals of sustainable development, which are improving the living conditions of every individual in society, developing means and methods of production, and managing it in ways that do not lead to the depletion of natural resources, as well as preventing the deterioration of the global environment, the decline of biodiversity and desertification, and addressing water, air and sea pollution.
The session concluded that there is a very serious problem, and that human activities are responsible for the dangers to the future of humanity as a whole, such as air pollution and global warming, which is accompanied by rising sea levels, which threatens extremely dangerous natural disasters. This means that responsibility lies in all These risks lie with the prevailing development patterns we use.
