The Department of Life Sciences at the College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Karbala organized a scientific workshop on how to get rid of algae in water tanks.
The workshop aimed to determine the percentage of algae present in water tanks, diagnose it laboratory-wise, and determine the damage caused by it.
The workshop included addressing the dangers of algal toxins as secondary metabolites secreted by algae and the harmful effects of these toxins on some living organisms, including humans.
Participants called for attention to such topics in order to know some of the benefits of algae and their important roles in the environment.
