The University of Karbala witnessed the launch of the activities of the Al-Zahra (peace be upon her) International Scientific Conference in its seventh edition, which is organized by the International Union of Muslim Women in Iraq in cooperation with the College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Karbala.
The conference raised the slogan, “Al-Zahra is a giver and a source of scholars,” and highlighted the biography of Lady Al-Zahra (peace be upon her) as a model with the ideal values for building society and confronting various challenges.
The conference addresses the contemporary challenges facing the Islamic community through a group of more than 70 research papers that dealt with educational, jurisprudential, Qur’anic, philosophical, narrative, and linguistic topics.
The conference activities were attended by the President of the University of Karbala, Professor Dr. Bassem Nayel Al-Saidi and his assistants for scientific and administrative affairs, as well as official and religious figures from various Islamic sects.
In a speech he delivered during the conference, the university president stressed the importance of giving Lady Al-Zahra (peace be upon her) sufficient space for scientific research, calling for the intensification of such scientific activities that contribute to building society through their scientific outputs, hoping that the conference would achieve the goals for which it was organized.
For his part, the Dean of the College of Islamic Sciences, Dr. Muhammad Al-Taie, explained the importance of women achieving their entitlement to reach various positions based on their important role in building society, which is reflected in many Qur’anic verses.
