The head of the Iraqi Atomic Energy Commission and the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, announced that Dhi Qar Governorate is free of radioactive contamination.
This came during a press conference in the presence of Mr. Governor of Dhi Qar, Murtada Abboud Al-Ibrahimi, and members of the Diwani Order Committee (23580), where Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi explained that the specialized national teams in the Iraqi Atomic Energy Commission were able, in an exceptional effort, to treat the contaminated military waste, which amounted to approximately two hundred tons of iron pieces. contaminated materials within a record time of thirty-four days, indicating that the supervisory teams from the National Authority for Nuclear, Radiological and Chemical Control conducted the necessary surveys that proved that Dhi Qar Governorate is free of radioactive waste.
He added that the experts of the Iraqi Atomic Energy Commission are continuing the procedures to purify a number of other provinces, and that the final announcement that Iraq is completely free of radioactive contamination will be coming soon.
