The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Karbala discussed a master’s thesis on modifying the bone metabolism pathway RANKL/RANK-OPG using a treadmill in male rats suffering from osteoporosis, submitted by the student Tabarak Basim Bleibis.
The study aimed to test the role of walking exercise on RANK, RANK-L, OPG and Cathepsin-K pathway by estimating the levels of RANK, RANKL, OPG, cathepsin K proteins and other biomarkers using femoral X-rays, light microscopy for histological examination, and electron microscopy.
The study recommended the need to know the effect of the treadmill on a high-cholesterol diet, and to study the effect of walking on the cardiovascular system.
