Associate Professor Sultan Karim Sultan from the College of Dentistry at Karbala University participated in the Third International Scientific Conference on Medical Sciences and Advanced Technologies, which was organized by the Iraqi Academics Syndicate in the holy city of Karbala on the premises of Al-Zahrawi University yesterday, Sunday, December 29, 2024.

The conference aims to promote scientific and intellectual exchange in the fields of medical sciences and advanced technologies between academic and government institutions, as well as to discuss the latest scientific and technological developments that serve society.

The participation included presenting a scientific research on the use of medical nanotechnology to synthesize selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) from beneficial bacteria (probiotics) and studying their effect on the gene expression of some virulence factors of antibiotic-resistant pathogenic bacteria, as well as their potential use as anti-cancer agents.

It is worth noting that the conference was attended by several Iraqi and international universities, in the presence of a number of prominent government, trade union, and academic figures. A total of 100 scientific research papers were accepted in the conference’s diverse sections from 18 Arab and foreign countries. These research papers will be published by the international publisher AIP classified under Scopus and Clarivate publishing journals.
