The College of Computer Science and Information Technology at the University of Karbala organized a scientific trip for students to Asia Cell Communications and the General Directorate of Communications and Informatics. Where the students were accompanied by the head of the department, Dr. Zaid Nasrallah, and a number of teachers.
The scientific trip aims to raise the level of students by conducting field trips and informing them about the latest development of information technologies and actively contributing to the graduation of competent cadres.
The trip included introducing students to the work environment of an information technology specialist in terms of work ethics and duties in companies, managing systems and networks in large institutions, the types of software used, as well as the core network and digital exchanges.
The trip also included a visit to Asia Cell Telecom Company / Middle Euphrates Branch, where the delegation was received by the Director of the Technical Department, the Director of Human Resources and the Director of the Information Technology Department. The program started with Eng. Safaa Abbas, with an introductory lecture on the tasks and duties of IT specialists in large companies. Then explain the types of software that are used to manage systems and networks. It also touched on protection programs and ways to prevent accidents. After that, the data center and the central network in the company building were visited. At the end of the tour, it was agreed with the company to hold summer training for the department’s students at the company’s headquarters.
After that, they went to the General Directorate of Communications and Informatics in Karbala. Where the managers of the departments of correspondence and exchanges received the delegation. The visit began with a lecture by Dr. Ali Abbas on the architecture of the Internet. Where he gave a detailed lecture on Internet companies (ISPs) and how the data traffic mechanism works, as was followed by Eng. Raed Hassoun, head of the Infrastructure Department, with a full explanation of the role of the department and its formations and the role of exchanges in the passage of mobile data and linking state departments and future projects. After that, the students conducted a field tour in the corridors of the Directorate
The tour also included a full explanation by Eng. Bashir Mortada, in charge of the Exchange Division, about the mechanism for passing international calls, IGW, for mobile and landline phones. Followed by Engineer Falah Fahd, responsible for the GIS Division, explaining the mechanism of transmission work, capacities and their divisions, and the special link between exchanges and the WDM messaging system, as well as future projects such as ciena and others.
