The Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Karbala organized a workshop on animal tissue culture, in which Prof. Dr. Wafaa Fawzi lectured, with the participation of a group of teachers and laboratory workers.
The workshop included the theoretical aspect, which included an introduction to animal tissue culture, the development and isolation of animal cells to study the various characteristics related to the life of cells and tissues that make up the body of animals, which are difficult to observe in vivo, how to prepare primary and secondary cultures of tissues and the types of cells used in these cultures and how to prepare passes cellular passage
As well as an indication of the necessary needs for the growth and maintenance of cells in the dishes designated for this from the culture media, with an explanation of the most important additions of natural and industrial materials to them and the conditions that must be met in the incubator and the hood for cultivation in terms of sterilization under strict conditions to preserve the cells from contamination and damage. Cells with liquid nitrogen for long periods and methods of dissolving the cells after removing them from it to restore their vitality and return them to work on them.
