Olive oil is known for its many health benefits, but what about the leaves of the olive tree? Of course, the olive tree is mentioned in the Holy Qur’an, and its leaves are distinguished by therapeutic capabilities that are superior in some aspects to oil, including delaying aging and strengthening immunity.
• The olive fruits are used as food, while the leaves of the olive tree are used as medicine. The leaves can be placed in hot water for twenty minutes and drunk as tea. They can also be taken as therapeutic or preventive capsules.
• Olive leaves have more health benefits than olive oil, and this is partly due to the very high percentage of “oleuropein” present in them, which is considered one of the powerful antioxidants. Three thousand times greater than olive oil.
• Oleuropein has the ability to protect the olive tree because it prevents the formation of what is known as free radicals and protects it from damage resulting from the attack of insects, bacteria, viruses and fungi, and this prolongs the life of the tree, and this substance has the same effect on humans as well.
• Leaf sap slows down the symptoms arising from the progression of human age, because it contains the very important chlorophyll, which stimulates the formation of blood cells and works to purify the blood.
• It has an effective effect against bacteria, fungi and parasites in the human body, overcomes digestion problems, reduces inflammation and strengthens the body’s immunity.
• Has a natural effect against inflammation of the bladder and vaginal fungi.
• Relieves colds and influenza and reduces the period of infection with them, and reduces high blood pressure, as it reduces gout disease (acute arthritis and swelling characterized by redness and high temperature).
• It contributes significantly to the prevention of heart attacks and stroke, according to what was reported by the “Tsentrum der Gizundheit” website. It also eliminates mycotoxins that may be deposited on the walls of blood vessels, causing atherosclerosis.
• Studies have shown that olive leaf juice protects against physical damage resulting from exposure to X-rays, ultraviolet rays, and even nuclear radiation. Therefore, it is good to take it before exposure to a Roentgen “diagnostic X-ray” in hospitals, and it is advised to keep olive leaf tea or its juices and capsules always at home to take it when necessary.
