Effect of orthodontics and aesthetics on the anterior position of the teeth

Comments Off on Effect of orthodontics and aesthetics on the anterior position of the teeth

According to the figure below, in this patient, with the teeth in the anterior position, the mouth remains open (due to difficulty in putting the lips together or breathing through the nose) and the tongue falls into the mouth and the balance between the tongue, lips, and cheeks is disrupted. This can shift the teeth over time and create an unbalanced and unsightly face.

This patient’s facial beauty is affected by the position of his upper and lower teeth. Because the teeth are angled forward, the lips cannot be closed easily. When the patient presses the lips, it closes the chin muscles, thus bringing the chin out of its normal position. This feature is not balanced when the teeth close together and the lips become in front of the chin and the lips are abnormal. Our goal is to help this patient with orthodontic and cosmetic solutions and treatments so that he can close his lips easily and naturally without any pressure. The arrangement of her teeth prevents his chin from deviating from its normal position to maintain a closed mouth and teeth.

Therefore, in the orthodontic and cosmetic treatment of this patient, 3 main objectives will be pursued:

Move the upper teeth into the mouth, creating the correct position and space to close the lips more easily
Create a suitable position for the chin to allow the chin muscle to relax.
