Removable orthodontics

Orthodontics with a removable device means that the patient can remove the orthodontic appliance from their mouth. Removable orthodontics consist of two general categories, one set consisting of simple removable brackets for partial tooth movement and the other consisting of removable brackets used to correct jaw deformities such as Lower or upper jaw retraction. Removable devices are used for sorting teeth in cases where the teeth are slightly irregular and the patient’s age for fixed orthodontic treatment is low. In other words, the primary teeth have not been replaced by permanent teeth.
On the other hand, removable devices are also used for jaw movement, and these devices are used to extend the lower or upper jaw according to the patient’s needs. Removable braces can be used independently or with fixed braces. After each meal, the removable orthodontic plate should be rubbed with a toothbrush and toothpaste, and then washed with water. It should be noted that during the first few days when using removable braces, the patient has problems with speech, increased leakage of oral fluids, etc., which usually resolves after a few days. Some mobile brackets have screws. With each screw opening, the arc is opened only 0.25 mm, which increases the width of the jaw travel. Opening the screws may create a gap between the teeth (especially the front teeth) which is not a cause for concern and may indicate a response to treatment. Opening the screw may create some pain, which can be relieved by a pain reliever such as acetaminophen.
If the bracket contains a screw, there may be changes in the tension and opening of the screw and the period of treatment and when it is used based on the progress of the treatment, which the orthodontist will tell the patient during the treatment visits. If the patient does not use the braces for several days, the braces may not be placed in the mouth due to a change in its position in the mouth. This is especially true of bolted brackets. When the patient does not use the aligner for a few days, the aligner will not fit in the mouth and will need to be re-molded and given another aligner. Bolt-on brackets should be tightened with the wrench as indicated and on time. Insert the wrench into the hole shown at the end of the arrow and twist it to the end of the arrow until one turn.
Never move the screw more than the specified amount, and if you forgot to tighten the screws at the right time, do it as soon as possible and adjust the tightening intervals at the new time. Pulling the screw causes the brackets to split and widen, widening the patient’s jaw.
The removable bracket relaxes between sessions, which must be tightened again by the orthodontist in each examination session, and according to the assessment of the patient’s progress. The patient may also need additional braces. The patient usually uses removable appliances until the permanent teeth have grown in and the jaw has been stabilized. Depending on the patient’s developmental process, the type and severity of the abnormality, the patient’s cooperation in using the orthodontic appliance, and the patient’s physiological response, each individual may require one or more orthodontic brackets.
In some patients, removable braces should always be used except when eating and exercising, and in some patients the braces should be used at night as well. The time to use a removable orthosis depends on the patient’s condition when the orthosis is handed over to the patient. With removable braces, the jaw can be moved and the teeth can be slightly adjusted. But complete and perfect alignment of the teeth requires constant orthodontic treatment, which is done after all the permanent teeth have grown in. Drinking liquids with a removable orthodontic plate is not prohibited. When removing the orthodontic from the mouth, make sure that it is placed in its designated place and avoid placing a tissue, etc., around it. Each time the orthodontic is inserted into the mouth, it must be pressed well to put it in the correct position in correct contact with the oral mucosa. Otherwise, the calendar will not work properly. If the braces do not fit well in the mouth for any reason, contact the doctor as soon as possible. Extra-oral products such as neck straps or headbands should be rinsed with cold, soapy water. A damp cloth with soapy suds should be used to clean the thin sections. OTC devices are usually used for 14 to 16 hours.
