After completing the maxillofacial surgery followed by orthodontic treatment, the teeth are tied with tape and brackets and the jaws begin to heal and repair.
Note that after maxillofacial surgery, the jaws are completely closed for 4 to 6 weeks and the patient can only drink liquids using a straw, during which time the patient is not allowed to eat any solid food.
After 6 weeks, the patient can consume soft foods that create minimal pressure on the jaws. Then, with the diagnosis of the attending dentist, the patient can return to his usual diet with caution.
