According to the system developed by the American Dental Association based on disease severity, there are different levels of periodontal disease. It is very important to know the types of periodontal disease in the dental office, in order to apply the correct treatment:
periodontitis (type 1); The presence or absence of bleeding in the gums, with the onset of the inflammatory process.
mild periodontitis (type 2); Bleeding present in the active phase, with insertion loss of up to 4 mm and areas of local stagnation.
moderate periodontitis (type 3); Insertion loss of 4 to 6 mm, bleeding from the tube and mild tooth movement.
Peri or advanced donatitis (type 4); Apparent bleeding from the catheter, insertion loss of more than 6 mm, tooth movement and possible bone loss.
