Fixed orthodontic techniques
This orthodontic technology cannot be removed by the patient at any time. Poor posture, rotating teeth, closure of dental spaces and poor occlusion are indicated.
There are several types, depending on the material used in the device and the place in the mouth where it is located. The most common are:
metal braces. This is the most traditional type of fixed braces. They are the most resistant to bites and even shocks. They allow to correct all kinds of problems of alignment, bite and position of the teeth. The main disadvantage of metal braces is their appearance, made of metal, which attracts attention and is not very aesthetically pleasing.
ceramic brackets. The materials used allow the design to be more aesthetic compared to the usual metal hardware. In addition, it is possible to place them only on the front teeth and allow them to be combined with the traditional system so that the metal brackets are hidden.
Sapphire brackets. They are the most secretive and almost invisible. They produce less irritation due to their smaller size, resulting in less irritation on the gums and the inside of the lips. In addition, being sapphire it is very resistant.
Lingual orthodontics. A type of invisible braces that are placed inside the teeth, thus reducing aesthetic problems. Each bracket is made to measure for each tooth, based on an exact reproduction of the lingual surface on which it will be placed. This technology is less durable than traditional braces. Another factor in its favor is that it allows for better hygiene throughout the course of treatment.
