Pathogenic bacteria harmful to oral health

The presence of these bacteria in the mouth is normal. They are part of what is known as the ‘oral bacterial flora’, since the body’s natural defenses can control their massive spread.

Upon contact with sucrose and foods containing sugars, the bacteria increase in number and form a layer of biofilm over the teeth and gums. The normal activity of the bacteria is to secrete acids that attack the enamel, causing serious damage to the gums and oral mucous membranes over time.
