In general, there are two types of dental prostheses with which the normal function of damaged teeth can be replaced. Before the loss of one or more teeth, and depending on the condition of the patient’s various oral tissues, it is necessary to make an assessment of the most comfortable and effective system.
Fixed dental prosthesis
It consists of a prosthesis that is placed directly over the upper jaw bone that is attached to the other natural teeth. This type of appliance provides a similar function to that of the original teeth.
Removable dentures
Unlike fixed dentures, removable dentures can be removed and placed. It is an ideal solution for patients whose upper jawbone does not allow for a fixed prosthesis. However, when properly positioned, they do not move or fidget when eating, talking, or performing any other daily activity.
