The term dentistry comes from dentist, and is derived from the French and Latin word for tooth.[7] The term dentistry and its diseases is also applied to scientific studies related to teeth (in Greek: ὀδούς), meaning tooth, which is the study of the structure, development and deformities of the teeth.
