A master’s thesis in the College of Science at the University of Karbala discussed the preparation and evaluation of the antibacterial activities of some new thiazolidinone derivatives of the thiadiazoles.

The thesis submitted by researcher Hanin Hadi Abbas was titled Preparation of new 1,3,4-thiadiazole derivatives bearing a thiazolidinone molecule using microwave irradiation method and evaluation of the antibacterial activity of the target compounds against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and comparing the results with those of the reference drug .
The study concluded that using the microwave irradiation method helps to form the 4-thiazolidinone ring in a short time and good yield in addition to green chemistry, and the initial antibacterial test showed 4-thiazolidinone has good antibacterial results.
The study recommended adding 2-aminobenzoic acid to imines to produce quinazoline compounds, as well as studying the biological effects of thiazolidinone compounds prepared in another way.
