In this section, we will briefly explain how orthodontic brackets work and how they move the teeth.
As you know, the teeth are placed on the gums. Beneath the gum tissue is a ligament called the periodontal ligament that surrounds the root of the tooth and holds the tooth in place. The periodontal ligament is actually the interface between the teeth and the jawbone.
In the process of orthodontics, by pressing and stretching with the orthodontic bracket, the periodontal ligament is pressed in one direction and stretched in the opposite direction. During this process and reaction, the tooth relaxes in its place and is moved to the tightened place.
