The gums between the teeth

This gum occupies the dental interstices, which are the spaces between the teeth below the points of contact with the teeth. It has another name, the gingival papillae, and it is triangular in shape from the vestibular and the lingual or palatine, and connects these two triangles with a depression called: saddle gingiva.

The gums are located between the teeth. They occupy the gingival embrace, which is the interdental space below the contact area of the teeth. The interdental papilla can be pyramidal or have a “column” shape. The attached gum resists the forces of chewing and is coated with keratin.

The shaft varies in depth and width, depending on the breadth of the contacting tooth surfaces. The epithelium covering the colon consists of the marginal gingiva of the adjacent teeth, except that it is not keratinised. It is mainly found in the broad interdental gingiva of the posterior teeth, and is not generally found with those interdental tissues attached to the anterior teeth because the latter tissue is narrower. In the absence of contact between adjacent teeth, the continuous gingiva extends unbroken from the face to the lingual side. coli may be important in the formation of periodontal disease but is only clinically apparent with tooth extraction.
