جThe College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Karbala discussed a doctoral thesis on “The effect of the extract of the Ashwagandha plant, Withania somnifera L., on some physiological, histological and genetic parameters in the reproductive system of male albino rats treated with the drug Levofloxacin.”
The study aimed to diagnose the secondary metabolites using a GC-MS device of the Ashwagandha root extract, the drug interaction and the protective role of the extract and the antibiotic levofloxacin in the function of some components of the male reproductive system, and to determine the implications of that.
The study recommended the need to adhere to the dose and duration specified for the antibiotic levofloxacin (LVFX), while avoiding its long-term use to avoid side effects on the organs and tissues of the body, especially the intestines, liver, and all organs of the body, as well as conducting more studies to identify the subtle changes occurring in reproductive tissue cells using a transmission electron microscope (TEM). .
