As part of the activities of the Global Entrepreneurship Week, the College of Dentistry at the University of Karbala held a symposium on the uses of artificial intelligence entitled (The Future of Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence) in the college’s continuing education hall, in which the assistant lecturer, Sultan Karim Sultan, lectured in the presence of a group of college students. The lecturer opened the symposium. He said, “Artificial intelligence has now become intertwined in every aspect of life, stressing that artificial intelligence has witnessed a qualitative shift in recent years, and has grown significantly on the ground to become a major tool in several sectors, including in particular the educational sector.”
The symposium, which was held under the slogan (Uses of Artificial Intelligence in the Educational Process), aimed to introduce college students to the concept of artificial intelligence technology and its uses in university education, and the great possibilities that these technologies offer for teaching and learning, which led to what is called the fourth generation of education, which depends on new educational methods. It uses a new generation of information technologies, including the Internet of Things, cloud computing, virtual imagination environments, and augmented reality, which requires building new strategies for education that keep pace with the digital transformations that the digital society is experiencing and prepare for the new professions that will emerge and the professions that will disappear.
The symposium included a brief explanation showing the difference between artificial intelligence applications and classical programming applications. A number of artificial intelligence sites that provide vital services to university students were presented and discussed, including chat sites such as (chat.openai.com, bard.google.com) and presentation sites. Presentations such as (tome.app), as well as applications for improving image quality (letsenhance.io) or image making (midjourney.com).
