The Council of Ministers, in its sixteenth regular session, approved the draft national policy for the sustainability of urban development projects (palms) submitted by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research / University of Karbala.

This policy works to identify the factors affecting urban sustainability in Iraq and to study the environmental, social and economic aspects of local specificity and urban challenges. It aims to preserve the environment and water, protect natural resources, reduce pollution and save energy while using alternatives and recycling waste.

The project included the preparation and design of an Iraqi scale for assessing the sustainability of urban development projects during the first year of the policy’s entry into force. sustainable construction.
