The President of the University of Karbala, Prof. Dr. Basem Khalil Al-Saidi, received the Sultan of the Alawi Bohras to discuss the admission of a number of members of the Bohra sect to study at the University of Karbala, in the presence of the Assistant President of the University for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Dr. Akram Mohsen Al-Yasiri.

This meeting comes after the University of Karbala announced the allocation of 199 complexes for foreign students within the “Study in Iraq” initiative launched by the Ministry of Higher Education and Higher Research, represented by His Excellency the Honorable Minister Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi at the beginning of this year.

Dr. Akram Al-Yasiri said: “The visit came to inform the visiting delegation of the details of the study initiative launched by the ministry and the mechanism of registration at the university by foreign students.”

Al-Yasiri explained: “The university has provided all the necessary supplies to receive foreign students, and to overcome obstacles that may hinder the registration process.”

The visiting delegation expressed its desire to enroll in Arabic and Quranic studies, and other Islamic studies, due to the scientific sobriety that Karbala University enjoys. This is because it has great academic and scientific potential.

The delegation stated that the sobriety of the outputs of the educational process at the University of Karbala and the curricula used in it, reinforced the idea of opening channels of communication with the university.

Earlier this year, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research launched the “Study in Iraq” initiative to enhance academic reputation and cultural exchange between Iraq and the countries of the region and the world.
