What do you know about moving kits?

The removable denture is an artificial replacement for missing teeth, partial or complete, that the patient can wear and take off at the time he wants.

What are the types of moving kits?

There are two types of moving kits:

Total dentures: It replaces the missing teeth of a patient who has lost all his teeth.

Partial dentures: replace missing teeth from one or more teeth.

What is the importance of moving kits?

1. Partially compensates for the lost natural tooth function (chewing food), enabling the patient to obtain nutrients.

2. Compensate for lost aesthetics due to missing teeth, especially the front teeth.

3. It maintains the functional system of the mouth and the surrounding muscles, as the chewing process represents a natural movement of the muscles, which reduces muscle atrophy as a result of lack of use, which gives an advanced look of age.

What is the difference between fixed and mobile kit?

Fixed denture: the patient cannot take it off as it is fixed inside the mouth all the time. It results from the preparation and filing of the teeth adjacent to the missing tooth or teeth, and thus is replaced by a bridge that is installed over the prepared teeth. Also, from the fixed compensation, implants (dental implants) are placed in the place of the missing tooth. This process does not include preparing the teeth adjacent to the missing tooth.

What is the best mobile or fixed kit?

Each case of missing teeth has a specificity. Some cases impose the fixed denture option, some impose the movable denture, and some leave the choice to the patient, as all options are available.

The specialist dentist examines the patient and evaluates each case and needs it, and the possibility of making a movable or fixed dentures.

How do I take care of my moving kit?

1. Maintaining the cleanliness of the denture by taking it off and cleaning it after each meal with a soft toothbrush for the denture, different from the toothbrush for the natural teeth of the same patient. Cleaning shall be with water and hand soap, while avoiding the use of toothpaste, as it contains scratchy materials.

2. Take off the dentures at night or when sleeping and avoid sleeping in the dentures, as this may cause fungal infections.

  3. Keep the kit inside a cup of water, as it is not permissible to leave the kit to dry in the air, which causes a change in color and a change in the dimensions of the kit.
