The College of Dentistry at the University of Karbala organized a course on tumors: their definition, types and methods of spread, with the participation of a group of faculty and staff from inside and outside the college and in the continuing education hall.
The first day of the course included the scientific definition of benign and cancerous tumors, and the types of tumors in terms of histological type, with a diagnosis of benign or cancerous, or the embryonic layer.
The lecturer touched on the characteristics of benign and cancerous tumor cells and the percentage of tumors in the world and Iraq, as well as ways of spreading cancers (through the bloodstream – lymphatic vessels – or nerves).
He also showed the relationship of obesity to the formation of cancer.
The aim of the course in which Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Fadel Hashim Al-Mayahi lectured was to clarify the general concepts of benign and cancerous tumors.
