The College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Karbala organized a scientific symposium on the use of insect pheromones and their benefits, with the participation of a number of college teachers and employees.
The symposium, in which Professor Dr. Yarab Mudar Jawad lectured, aims to understand the concept of pheromone, which is a chemical substance released outside the body of one individual and received by another individual of the same species, which in turn shows a specific reaction, either behavioral or physiological.
The symposium included an explanation of the types of pheromones, which are sex pheromones, also called sex attractants, which are released by both sexes, aggregation pheromones that stimulate the behavior of individuals of the same species and lead to an increase in their numerical density, and diffusion pheromones that stimulate some behavioral patterns.
