A master’s thesis at the College of Law at the University of Karbala discussed the crime of electronic begging, submitted by student Murtada Hussein Muhammad.
The study aimed to address the phenomenon of electronic begging, which is considered one of the social diseases that accompanied the emergence of modern technologies.
The study concluded that there is a clear legislative deficiency in the criminal laws that combat electronic crimes, including the crime of electronic begging.
The study recommended the necessity of adding a new text to the effective Iraqi Penal Code stipulating that every person who begs using electronic devices be punished with imprisonment for a period of no less than three years or a fine exceeding five million Iraqi dinars.
