The importance of the study comes from the importance of water, the pollution of which poses risks in various uses (agricultural, industrial, and domestic).

The study aimed to determine the efficiency of irrigation and drainage projects in Al-Hashimiya District, and to study the geographical distribution of pollutants in river networks and drains.

The study concluded that the problem of pollution is one of the main problems that Iraq suffers from, including the Hashimiya district.

The study recommended the necessity of adopting policies that would store rainwater, utilize surface water, and regulate river water drainage.
