The College of Dentistry at the University of Karbala organized a course entitled (The Role of Analytical Chemistry in Detecting Crimes) in the College’s Continuing Education Hall, in which Professor Dr. Abdel Bari Mahdi Mahood and Lecturer Dr. Manal Abdel Muhammad lectured, in the presence of a group of faculty and staff at the College.

The course aims to introduce attendees to the importance and role of analytical chemistry in detecting crimes, while clarifying its applications and the various methods for estimating models obtained from the crime scene.

The course included an introduction to analytical chemistry and its types and linking it to forensic chemistry, as well as a discussion of the development taking place in the world of electronics, which helped criminals hide under this development, in addition to the role of analytical devices in detecting perpetrators by collecting and analyzing results, as well as methods for collecting samples from fire and bombing sites. The course recommended the need to pay attention to the science of analytical chemistry and teach its modern methods to analyze physical evidence at the crime scene to detect criminals and thus facilitate the task of Iraqi judges and the government in arresting them.
