The College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Karbala discussed a doctoral thesis entitled an epidemiological, immunological and molecular study of aborted women with toxoplasmosis, presented by researcher Hussein Ali Mohsen.

The study aimed to identify the incidence of toxoplasmosis and its relationship to age, education, housing, and livelihood.

The study showed the presence of an immune response represented by a significant increase in IL1β, IL-10, and TNF-α_ for patients who miscarried with toxoplasmosis compared to patients who miscarried for other reasons.

The study recommended the need to conduct further studies on patients aborted with toxoplasmosis and patients aborted for other reasons and evaluate the level of regulated and defensive cellular movements.
