A master’s thesis at the College of Management and Economics at the University of Karbala discussed the growth of the stock market and its impact on the financial structure of banks – a comparative analytical study of a sample of banks listed on the Iraq Stock Exchange and the Amman Stock Exchange for the period (2004-2021).
The study presented by student Ayat Muhammad Najm aimed to measure the scientific implications of both the growth of the stock market and the financial structure of banks and their relationship with each other.
The study concluded that the growth of the Iraqi Stock Exchange indices does not have a significant impact on the financial structure indicators of the sample banks (Baghdad, Business Bay), while there is a clear and significant impact relationship to the growth of the Amman Stock Exchange indicators on the financial structure indicators of the sample banks of the study in Jordan (the Bank Arab Bank, Housing Bank, Money Bank).
The study recommended that investment in the financial market and all its related aspects, in terms of risk and return, take a large part in investment banking and that special departments be established in banks to deal with financial investment in financial markets.
