On the initiative of the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Assistant Professor Dr. Muhannad Salah Abdel Sattar, the Student Activities Division in the College of Dentistry organized the first Quranic competition in recitation and intonation with the participation of a group of students, and in the presence of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Muhannad Salah Abdel Sattar and his scientific and administrative assistants and a group of college employees and students .

The competition was opened with a fragrant recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the recitation of Surat Al-Fatihah on the souls of the martyrs.

The dean of the college delivered a speech in which he said, “We are proud of the presence of students who care about the religious aspect just as they care about the scientific aspect, and interest in the Holy Qur’an and learning it is a practical application of what God loves and is pleased with, and the people of the Qur’an are the people of Paradise.”

The competition included the participation of a group of students in recitation and intonation under the supervision of a jury consisting of a number of professors specialized in the field of recitation and intonation from the College of Education for Islamic Sciences and the College of Applied Medical Sciences.

The committee listened to the recitation of the students and made some educational instructions and observations in order to draw the attention of the participating reader to the weaknesses and strengths of his recitation.

The jury praised the role of those organizing the competition, the role of the students participating in it, and the students’ interest in reciting the Holy Quran.

The arbitration committee announced the names of the winners, relying in its judgment on the mechanism of the provisions of intonation, cessation, initiation, and voice. The student Zahraa Talib won the first place, the student Ghadir Moayad won the second place, and the student Mahmoud Othman won the third place.

The competition concluded by honoring the winning students and participants, distributing gifts to the top three, and honoring the jury with certificates of appreciation.

It is noteworthy that the competition aims to discover students’ phonemic potentials, pay attention to them and develop their Quranic skills. It is included in the various student activities in the college.
