Success in work or life in all its aspects is a hope that many seek, and they take different paths in that, but what are the most important steps that we can follow in order to be successful? The German “Berof Strateggi” website provides a useful summary:

1. There is no success without a goal: Set a goal in your eyes, in every sense of the word. If you want to buy a new car, stick a picture of it in a place where you will see it all the time. But if you want to advance in your work, put a piece of paper with your hoped-for monthly salary near the computer screen, so that you can look at it while working.

2. Preparation is the secret of excellence: Before performing any duty or any task in the workplace, learn what must be done to complete the work perfectly, and prepare what you can prepare in advance, as this is a shortening of time and effort. You can also divide large tasks into small parts that are easier for you to complete.

3. Divide the time: Dividing the time available to you is one of the most important and useful steps when mastering it. Don’t set yourself a schedule that you can’t achieve, and you can plan your time for days, weeks, or months to come, depending on your abilities. This ability to plan ahead will improve over time and you will become more accurate in identifying your abilities and skills.

4. Preparing daily lists: For each task, make a separate list that includes everything you need to complete that task step by step, in a logical order that is easy for you to follow later. And crossing out each step after its completion leads to an inner feeling of relief and happiness and motivates you to complete the task quickly and accurately.

5. The right timing: Push yourself if you feel like you are not being pressured from outside. Imagine that you do not have a long time to complete your tasks, and put yourself in a time “crisis”. If you use a calendar or diary, try to schedule your appointments into relatively close spaces, with the aim of creating an artificial state of stress.

6. Behind every successful creativity at work: take advantage of the color feature to increase your efficiency at work! Use the colored slips to write down the tasks you have to do, and arrange them by color in order of priority – red for the most important, yellow for medium importance, and green for the least important, for example.

7. Visualize the performance in your imagination: Unleash your imagination and produce a short “movie” in your brain about how to accomplish the task at hand. Store this “film” in your brain cells and play it back over and over as you perform the task.

8. Train your mind on positivity: Use the educational scientific method called “Neuro-Linguistic Programming”, which can be summarized in using positive sentences instead of negative ones. For example, instead of saying, “I can’t do that!” or “I made a mistake.” You could say, “I can do that” or “I’ll remember that next time.” Over time, you will see that your performance and level of work increase.

9. Positive focus: Try to focus on the task that you will do at work the next day before you go to sleep. Visualize it in your mind without associating it with time pressure and without thinking about it for too long. And when you start to feel sleepy, think again of something nice and relaxing. Neuroscientists say that the brain then associates your performance of the task you focused on with the positive thoughts generated when you think of something comfortable and beautiful, so the next day you will feel positive feelings while performing the task.

10. Do not neglect your comfort: All of the tips and steps mentioned above are more effective when you do them in a comfortable and quiet environment. You can do some exercises to calm your nerves and relax your body before taking the steps that we mentioned here, and the methods differ from one person to another, as there are those who tend to meditate deeply, while others practice tai chi, or even regular deep breathing for several minutes.
